The second day of the Marathon weekend was filled with two events for us. The Inaugural Minnie 10K and the Kids Races. I was up at 2:00 a.m. to get ready and catch a bus to meet up with Mandy and Diana. I got there early, met a nice guy named Matt from Alabama on my bus and wandered around the gathering area for a while to try and find everyone. While there Danielle Nardi spotted me. So I hung out with her for a few minutes, then went over to Corral A area to wish Kim, her daughter Katherine and Alison good luck on the race. I found Mandy and Diana and in our Corral and we waited for the race to start. The race ran through the outside of the parking lot of Epcot for the first 2 miles and then goes through the back of Test Track, through World Showcase and into the Boardwalk and Beach Club area. You could smell the foods from around the area and we were starving! It was just 7:30 by the time we finished!
I really enjoyed the 10K course. We didn’t stop for character pictures, but we did take pictures along the world showcase. After the race was finished we took pictures outside the Finish area and then I had to rush back and shower, eat and get the kids over to the Kids races.
The Kids races were fun. The kids were excited to participate but were very anxious to wait for the start of the race. We got there early enough so that they were in the beginning of the corral. They had to wait about 15 minutes for the race to start, so I kept them cool with cold water to drink and Kevin waited with them while I scoped out a place at the finish line to get video and photos of them.
When it was time to go, my son took of quick. My husband Kevin ran with Adrienne. My son went by so fast I didn’t even see him! Thankfully I took video so I could find him afterwards. He came in around 8th place. I spotted my husband and Adrienne coming along and in the video recap I was able to see her give Mickey a high five on her way by him!
The kid races were a lot of fun and something we will definitely take part of in the future. View a video of Day 2 of our trip including the 10K race and the kid races along with a few other surprises at the end of the day!
I admire your desire and willingness to run!
That looks like a fabulous time!!!!!
Yay for the SITS Girls for helping me find your blog! 😀
I’m a runner and a mother too, but I never do races. I’m a lone runner I suppose. But that Disney run looks like fun.
I think that’s it great that the whole family is involved with being active. When my older kids was little they use to do the kids races. We had so much fun enjoying the race and the family activities after it. WTG doing the 10k.
Your post is so inspiring. I am so not a runner, but I do enjoy walking feverishly. I love that you are including your kids in forming healty habits. Bravo! Stopping in from SITS.
What a wonderful family event!!! I use to love to run but old age kinda sorta creeped up on me anf those days are gone (sigh) BUT I do still walk everyday and enjoy it just as much. ^_^
Happy SITS Comment Love Wednesday!!
I think a DISNEY run may actually motivate me to RUN! 🙂 Congrats on doing it! I would probably stop to visit with the characters myself (just for the break) 😉 🙂 Great Blog, found you via SitsGirls and following you now from http://www.dancinmoma.com (as we are both on wordpress). Cheers!
Sounds like a lot of fun…if you like running!!! Great the the whole family is involved. Found you through SITS
It looks like you had a blast. My husband has a Disney race on his radar, but I didn’t realize that there was also a children’s one. My preschooler LOVES to run and would have a blast with that!
It really is a family affair if you want to make it to be one! You should do it! Once you do, though, you do get hooked!
Wow, 10K? I’d be happy if I manage to run for 100 metres 🙂 Good job, you rock!

Hello from SITS Blogging! Glad I found you 🙂
I would really like to try the dopey challenge one day. I had a friend do it this year but she didn’t really enjoy it. She said waking up at 2-3 every morning was too early, and that the schedule should split the half and the marathon. Hmm…
congrats on doing this!
Patty
Thank you Patty! I know that the hard part is the waking up, but that’s why you have to be disciplined and save the park touring for after the races are done and be in bed early.
So nice that you involved the kids too 🙂
#SITS
I think I could do the kids race 😉 What a great event!
Congratulations – this sounds great! A few years ago we did the Goofy Challenge and my family had a blast! And yes, we definitely waited until afterwards to tour the park… very, very slowly, haha! This brought back such wonderful memories of that weekend. Thank you for sharing!

I have a lot of friends who have run the Disney races, but I never have. I actually seldom race these days, but I’ve been running 30+ years. I bet the kids really had a fun time there! Visiting from #sitsblogging!
They look so cute! I like the idea of the kids races. They sound like they did really well 🙂
What a fun place to have a run! I am not a runner, but this would definitely be a fun race if I was. 🙂
How fun! My mom used to make me and my brothers do these when we were young but they were NEVER this fun looking or high profile haha
Stopping by from SITS!
I’m so jealous! I’ll have to put this race on my list for next year!
I’ve read a lot about this weekend but am happy to read one that involved kids, too. Sounds like you all had a great time! #SITSblogging
Up at 2am and then running, wow! Sounds so fun to run at Disney too!
Wow this looks like so much fun! Got to love anything that has something for the kids to do as well 🙂
So Amazing! Sounds like so much fun. Disney is on our bucket list of runs to do as a family.
I love to run and it is so fun to get the whole family involved. Our city has a 5k series during the Summer and our kiddos do that every year. Yes, they wake up at 5:00 am in the Summer! As a mom, the look on their face when they accomplished something so challenging is priceless. Although, they have admitted they only run for the post-race snacks. Hey whatever works.
