Last Minute Gifts For Runners – Visibility Safety Gear
I can’t recommend Noxgear enough. I love their lighted safety vest. And they are having a sale right now! When you order from Amazon, you may be able to get them in time for Christmas!
I know firsthand how difficult it is to see a runner at dusk, dawn, and night. I’ve spotted 3 or 4 walkers and runners in town wearing their Noxgear and it really does help get your attention.
They also sell a clip-on light with up to 5 Hours of Burn Time – 5 hours on low-mode (250 lumens). 2.5 hours on high mode (500 lumens). It also has a Rechargeable Battery (USB-C). That’s a plus for me!
You can’t be too visible! I’m going to add these to my safety kit.
If you run with a dog you can also keep him safe!
Add another cool accessory to your vest so you can listen to your favorite music, podcast, or audiobook without the need for headphones. It’s the wireless blue tooth clip-on speaker
I have been using my headphones less and listening to my podcast straight from my phone. The roads I run on aren’t busy so I can hear the podcast fine. I wouldn’t mind having a Bluetooth speaker so I can save my battery life on my phone for those long runs! The speaker is very light, up to 12 hours of playing time, a clip to attach anywhere, and studio-quality sound!
Last Minute Gifts For Runners – Self Defense Safety Gear
Defender Ring
I love this item because you can wear it all the time. Not just for running. Defender ring started their company as a self-defense tool following the deaths of Karina Vetrano and Vanessa Marcotte. They were two women who were attacked in broad daylight while out running.
You don’t just use it to “harm” your attacker, but you also collect DNA of the attacker, cut zip ties, or incapacitate a predator with their serrated maximalist rings.
What other benefits do they offer?
- They are easily accessible as you wear them and they aren’t stored in your purse or pocket.
- They add to your punch with a slicing, cutting, or stabbing ability.
- They can’t be knocked out of your hand.
- They are compact, lightweight, and easy to wear.
- No ammo, batteries, or charging is required.
They aren’t just for runners either! They are perfect for health care workers, students, mothers, service industry workers, mothers… pretty much all women should have one! It’s unfortunate that we have to think this way; but I believe its always better to be safe than sorry.
Defender Ring is also another company making a difference. They have a partnership with Global Care & Response, a nonprofit organization that provides services to female survivors of sex trafficking. They will assist GCR by providing products and resources to trafficking survivors to help support and empower them on their recovery journeys.
If you are a nonprofit organization interested in partnering with them, please reach out to team@defenderring.com.

Go Guarded
Go Guarded Ring is another tool I heard about. I don’t recall if it was specifically from this episode of the Another Mother Runner podcast. But I know it’s been mentioned in their show. Slip it on your finger and GO. You can take comfort in knowing you are empowered with extra protection should you need it.
They also provide a combination self-defense ring with pepper spray. It’s perfect for deterring an attack while you can escape.
The GoGuarded products were created to be convenient and comfortable for runners to wear which are hands-free to allow for you to still access your water, phone, watch, etc.

Recovery Tools PLUS a Giveaway!
My favorite shoe I wear after my run is my KANE Revive shoes. I live in these shoes. They are also really great to wear when I am cross-training. They are very stable and help me keep my balance. The Revive integrates principles of active recovery to renew the body through stimulation, circulation, and blood flow. It’s the first shoe designed specifically for active recovery.
But with all of the work I have been doing over the last few months with the marching band, my feet have been so happy! I haven’t had any issues with my plantar fasciitis flaring up, and my feet are NEVER sore after a long 12+ hour day on them!
What I love most about these shoes is their versatility. I’ve worn them while enjoying waterslides at the ski slope with my kids over the summer. And if they get dirty, I just toss them in the washing machine! They are made from sugarcane!
Kane footwear uses RestoreFoam™, made from sugarcane, to provide the ideal balance of support and cushioning. The Kane Revive is the first one-piece injection molded shoe made from eco-sustainable materials.
I also support this company because they are from my home state of Connecticut, AND they have made a long-term commitment to responsible business practices and partnerships.
