Are you looking for a “home away from home” where you can have a FREE hot breakfast buffet every day? Where you can drive straight to some of the greatest shows in the Midwest, and avoid the traffic? I know just the place! It’s The Stone Castle Hotel & Conference Center. Not only do they offer an incredible rate for their rooms; but they save you time as well! I was invited by The Stone Castle Hotel and Conference Center as part of a media FAM trip to explore Branson, Missouri. All opinions are 100% my own.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Camelot Suite with a jacuzzi tub in my room. We were so busy during this trip that I hit my pillow each night and slept so well, for the short time we did sleep!

We had a full itinerary from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day to capture all our Branson knowledge to share with you all through our eyes and our blogs.

This beautiful, three building hotel is located in the heart of Branson, MO. They are adjacent to the Mount Pleasant Winery and the Curling Vine Winery. How can you go wrong if you chose a place located right near not one, but two wineries! Plus it also has the appearance of a castle in the hills.

Where else can you go where you can have a Christmas story read to you each night during the months of November and December? The minute you step foot into the lobby and are greeted by such friendly staff members, you will feel right at home.

I am from Connecticut, so to have such a warm greeting was a welcome surprise to me. I found out that everyone at The Stone Castle Hotel & Conference Center are like that. It was a pleasure to be treated so kindly.

Church Landing at Mills Falls

Every summer our family enjoys a trip to New Hampshire. Last summer we took a surprise weekend trip with the kids to Church Landing at Mills Falls.

Church Landing is the newest of the Inns at Mills Falls. It sits right on Lake Winnipesaukee with wonderful views of the water and a beautiful boardwalk along the lake to the marina.

Where to Stay In Branson, Missouri

I recently became connected with a blogging group who share their experience with travels to Branson, Missouri. Did you know that Branson, Missouri is a great place to travel to for great family fun? I didn’t know that until I learned a lot from other bloggers about Branson. Now that I know this amazing place exists I am going to have to find a marathon in the area for an excuse to make a trip out West and explore this great area as well!

Until March of this year, I had no idea there was such a place called Branson, Missouri that had SO much to do there. A Facebook and fellow runDisney runner friend of mine was looking for ideas of places to go to over the summer and I proudly told her about Branson because I learned so much about it from the bloggers who went there. She told me she grew up not far from there and knew of it.

I guess I live a sheltered live, coming from a small farm town in CT, and my biggest trips are going to Disney World, Disneyland and Washington, D.C. I need to get out and travel more! I did recently learn about Cedar Park when I attended the Bloggy Con Conference last year. That’s another great place (and another blog post), that I want to share with you!

Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Hotel Recommendations

I’m starting a new section of my blog which will provide you with hotel recommendations, especially to use for race weekends. Cost is a factor when I travel for race weekends because I am traveling alone and want to do it as cheap as I possibly can because I really just need a bed, shower and coffee maker.

When I went to Disneyland for the past two Dumbo Double Dare Races in 2016 and 2015 I stayed at the Best Western Plus Pavilions. I was very happy with this hotel last year and booked again at the same hotel this year. It is close to the Disneyland Resort area and Downtown Disney and is just about a 15-20 minute walk to the starting area for the races. It is also a more direct route to the races which does not require you to go though security and bag checks like you do in the area between Disneyland Magic Kingdom and California Adventure.

I also booked this hotel for the price. I was able to book it for $135 per night and I use hotels.com so that I can earn free nights. When you book again to the same hotel you also get special pricing. They also offered something great this year that I took advantage of. With their location right next to Denny’s, you are given a voucher for each night you stay there to use for breakfast the following day between 7:00 – 10:00 a.m. And your choices are not just a muffin and coffee. You can choose from eggs, pancakes, toast, tea, coffee, or juice and a side of bacon, sausage or turkey bacon. I made sure to take advantage of this the morning of the 10K since I finished early enough to take a fast shower and head over to the restaurant before 10:00 a.m. I thought this was an excellent addition to their accommodations there.

They are also located on a road that makes my return trip to the airport very easy because there isn’t usually theme park traffic when I depart on Sunday late morning.

I am very happy with the cleanliness, the amenities, the bed and how quiet it is at this hotel. I suits my needs perfectly for a race weekend. Check out my video of the hotel.

2015 Marathon Weekend Hotel Accomodations

For this year’s trip to Disney for my first experience with the Dopey Challenge I chose to stay off property to save some money. I also needed a place where my children and my parents would have a place to sleep. I wanted a place with a washer and dryer and full kitchen. WorldQuest Orlando Resort was perfect. We got a 3 bedroom suite, which was the size of a condo!

It had plenty of space for everyone. There was a dining room area, living room area, full kitchen, screened in porch, pull out sofa, washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms and all of that was available to us for just around $150 per night! You can’t beat it! They also have a nice pool area with a hot tub and Tiki Bar, light continental breakfast and a small workout area.

I was concerned about driving to the races because I have never done that before for a morning race. This was amazing. I was less than 10 minutes away from door to parking space. It was a direct route right to Epcot. On the day of the half and full there was a little bit of a detour because some of the roads to Epcot were closed due to the corrals being located there. However, the detour was super easy and I left with plenty of time and didn’t have traffic issues to worry about.

It’s in a very quiet area with nothing around, but it isn’t far from anything at all! I will plan on staying there again next year!
