Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Registration is Now Open

Well, the registration for the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon is now open; but I didn’t jump on and register.  I checked the prices from what I was reading on social media and it sounds like the cost is coming in around $1300 for hotel and park passes.  I have not researched air fare yet.

The average price for the value room is around $270 US not including taxes.  If you book a room separately, you can call directly yourself and then plan to purchase a race bib separately when they become available on January 12, 2016.  By making a separate reservation through Disney directly, you have a more control on the deposit that is required and the final payment dates.

I did a little research to find out what I would have to pay if I booked a 4 day, 3 night stay at the Hotel Cheyenne.  The total came to $1256.00 and this also includes free travel insurance.  This price includes super early booking offer at Summer 2015/Winter 2015-2016 prices, 1 night and 1 day FREE + FREE hotel and park tickets for kids under 7.  It also includes Disney Parks tickets + breakfast (NB: breakfast is not included at Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch. To be booked on arrival or during your stay).

If you purchase a package from a travel provider like GET Travel, the package will include

  • Accommodation in a Disney® Hotel
  • Breakfast (Except at Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch)
  • Access to the Disney® Parks
  • One registration per room for one of the races  (Half Marathon or 5K race)

When booking through a travel provider, you must make the final payment by December 12, 2015.

As of when I am writing this post I have not heard that the race is sold out.  I still haven’t made a decision about what I plan to do and I’m still unsure.

Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Registration Opens In A Week

parisThe Disneyland Paris Half Marathon registration is opening up in less than a week and already there is a lot of negative talk about the entire process.

First, if you want to participate in the event, then the registration which includes a race bib along with a travel package is what you need to register for on October 13.

Second, if you choose to purchase one of these packages you are required to pay a 50% deposit at the time of purchase, then 25% on 11/15/15 and the remaining 25% on 12/15/15.  This means you are paying for your entire trip before the end of 2015 and the event doesn’t take place until September, 2016!  Only 25% of the entire package is refundable if cancelled in writing/confirmed receipt by GET on or before Tuesday 11/15/15.

However, if you choose to not take this approach and purchase a bib through a travel provider, then you do have a chance in January to purchase a bib only, but there will only be a handful of those bibs available to purchase.

I was hoping to register for this event; but now that I know I will need to shell out this much money ahead of time; I don’t think it will be possible.

This race would have been a great opportunity for me to travel to Europe. I have never been to Europe before and I would love to see another Disney park, being I am such a huge Disney Fan.  I also wanted to earn a “Castle to Chateau” medal which is something new from runDisney.  But with the cost of hotel/race registration package alone, you still have to add air fare.  I honestly don’t know if this would be something I am willing to purchase.  We will have to wait and see what the prices are on October 13 before making a determination for such an event.

Disneyland Paris Here I Come???

Well the news was announced at the Start line of the Princess Half Marathon this year.  There will be a Disneyland Paris Half Marathon!  And yes, I want to go.  If I go is another story; but I’m going go try my hardest to get there.  I can’t miss an Inaugural even and something in a foreign country nonetheless.

The race will take place September 23 – 25 and to my knowledge, so far it is a half marathon.  I am not sure if there will be a 5K prior to the race and what the details are for the start times.  There is a website to go to sign up to receive information about the race weekend.

How do I get there?  Good question.  I have to start researching into flight options and costs.  My friends all want to go so now we have to determine where we will stay.  I had been following this news since last year when the rumors were starting to spread and I started researching places to stay.  I like the looks of the Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne (Value Resort) so I will have to do some research to see if they have rooms available and what the cost is.

How much are park passes?  Well according to the rates last year, this is what I know:

1-Day Park Hopper Ticket – £57 (about $96 US)
2-Day Park Hopper Ticket – £107 (about $179 US)
4-Day for the Price of a 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket – £130 (about $218 US)
5-Day for the Price of a 4-Day Park Hopper Ticket – £150 (about $251 US)

My biggest expense will be airfare of course.  So it’s time to start watching the flights and see what choices I have.
